Privacy Policy

SWP Hermes Backups is a personal, single-user backup utility operated for the owner of this site.

Google data accessed

The utility uses the drive.file permission. It can create and manage only Google Drive files that the utility creates or that the user explicitly selects for it. It does not request Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, Docs, or Sheets access.

How data is used

Google authorization is used solely to upload, verify, list, and apply the owner's configured retention policy to encrypted Hermes backup files and their checksum files in the owner's designated Google Drive folder.

Storage and security

OAuth credentials are stored on the owner's private server and are not placed in the uploaded archives. Backup archives are encrypted before upload, and the private recovery key is stored separately by the owner outside that server.

Sharing and disclosure

Google user data is not sold, rented, shared with advertisers, used for advertising, or used to train artificial-intelligence models. It is not transferred to third parties except as required to provide the Google Drive storage operation or to comply with law.

Retention and deletion

Encrypted backups remain in the owner's Google Drive until removed under the owner's configured retention policy or deleted by the owner. The owner can revoke access at any time from the Google Account security settings and can delete files directly from Google Drive.
